This historical tour de force interweaves never seen before footage of C.L.R James himself with personal contributions from those who knew him and astute historical and political analysis from leading scholars of his work. The results is an epic feature length documentary which grapples with issues from colonialism to cricket, from slavery to Shakespeare, from Marxism to the movies and from reading to revolution.
A writer and a political activist he is known for this works such as “The Black Jacobins” and “Beyond A Boundary” The film's unique production history – crowd funded, crowd-featured and crowd-filmed with over 200 volunteer cameras operators, presenters and researchers- does credit to James conviction.
The first time this film will be shown in Scotland, this is a unique opportunity to gain an insight into life of the Trinidadian born revolutionary who died in Brixton London 1989. This film will be shown at UWS Paisley Campus, come meet the Director Ceri Dingle and contributors to the film for a Q&A, followed by a reception. This event is part of Black History Month
