Hong Kong and China: the struggles for labour rights and democracy

The movement for democracy in Hong Kong threw away the illusion of convincing Beijing to give democracy. Despite the ongoing harsh repression, the movement will rise up again. It has given birth to a new trade union movement, led by young worker activists. The 2019 revolt was not the end game but just the beginning of a long-term struggle.
