image no longer in the archiveWe believe the migrants in Calais should be able to enter the UK and that the migrants risking their lives to come to Europe should also be allowed in. We demand that the border at Dover and all borders across Europe be opened. We reject the the politics of fear, racism, and xenophobia sweeping Europe and stoked by mainstream parties and media which has sought to dehumanise and criminalise migrants. We are particularly horrified by the sheer number of migrant deaths this year: twelve in Calais [1] that we know of and over two-thousand in the Mediterranean.[2] These deaths were preventable and indefensible. No human is illegal and nobody should have to risk their life trying to cross a border.
We are for freedom of movement. Anyone who wants to come and live in Britain - or any other country - should have the right to. Immigration controls and borders are not the solution to the problems of our times - they are part of the problems in themselves.
This demonstration will be held simultaneously in Dover and Calais on Saturday 17th October, 1PM Dover and 2PM Calais, exact locations TBC. It is being jointly organised by the NCAFC, Folkestone United, Labour Campaign for Free Education, Plymouth Propaganda Group, Right to Remain, Workers' Liberty & RS21 and it is supported by A Living Wage for Ritzy Staff and Oxford Antifa
