It is 50 years since the passing of the 1967 Abortion Act which gave most women in the UK access to safe abortions. We are meeting to celebrate the passing of this Act but also to build the campaign to improve women’s rights to abortion.
Women in Northern Ireland are still not covered by the Act and many women across the UK are still obstructed by poor access and cuts to reproductive rights services. It is also the case that abortion is only available on the authorisation of two doctors and, without this, it is still a criminal act.
We know that worldwide millions of women do not have access to safe abortion and thousands of women die.
Globally, the rights we have won are under threat. Come and hear from experts and campaigners about what we’ve won and what is still to fight for.
This meeting will be a rallying call to act.
